Introduction
The anaerobic cow manure treatment plant in Emek Hefer produces a maximum of 1.500 Nm3/h biogas, which is converted to electricity in two Jenbacher turbines. These turbines allow a maximum hydrogen sulfide concentra- tion of 200 ppmv.
The biogas contains a maximum of 4000 ppmv hydrogen sulfide. In order to reduce the hydrogen sulfide con- centration to the required maximum of 200 ppmv, a DMT Bio-Sulfurex® biological desulphurization reactor is designed and delivered by DMT. The hydrogen sulfide is biologically oxidized into sulfuric acid and elementary sulfur in the bioreactor.
This paper is about the operational results in the period from start-up up until now.
