Tailor-made WWTP Moira designed by DMT (6-12-2010)

WWTP Moira

Development in law and legislation leads continuously to improvement of the treatment of wastewater. Sensitive rural areas are more vulnerable to pollution.

In the small town Moira in Northern Ireland, an existing treatment plant did not suffice anymore to the current legislation. The wastewater flow originates from a large restaurant (340 visitors maximum), which includes a night club and accommodates the staff.

The typical wastewater from these kind of applications are different then domestic wastewater, thus special attention has to be made to the possibilities of using activated sludge.

DMT delivered the design and supervised this WWTP, which is capable to reach discharge qualities of 5/5 (mg/l BOD/SS). The complete project was delivered by DMT’s Irish partner Viltra.
